How long for a small damp patch to dry out following repair?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM
I have a small (30x30cm) damp patch on an internal wall that was being caused by a loose brick conducting condensation from the waterpipes under the floorboards. The pipes have now been insulated. How long should it take for the patch to dry out? The wall was backing papered and then painted; will I be able to paint over the top once dry?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi.
Yes once dry (shouldnt take long) you can repaint, as long as the lining paper that is there is still bonded to the wall.
The problem you may have is that the water may have created a stain and that can leach into the emulsion you apply.
If that is the case then the stain will need to be 'blocked'
An oil based undercoat can do this, but the best stain blocker is zinsser b.i.n
