Do you need NRVs/double check valves for bath shower mixer taps?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.35 PM
Dear Plumbers We want to change our bath taps for bath shower mixer taps. We bought a set of taps with the hose and shower attachment etc and read the instructions. The instructions state that non-return valves should be fitted. These instructions were not on the sealed box. Does this mean that we need to have NRVs fitted to the hot and cold filling pipes? OR an easier alternative for us - is it possible to purchase bath shower mixer taps with integral non-return valves? Thanking you for your much-valued advice. Kind regards.

I wouldn’t risk it as I had this problem before and finally you have to use NRV for most of these fancy mixers

Hello. If is requirement in instruction , must to fit this . Especially for warranty . But you don't need to buy a new mixer tap . You used already and i'm not sure if you can return . One double check-valve is £ 5-20 ( depends of materials and manufacturer or seller ).
