Combi boiler pressure being lost

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

I have a Vaillant Ecotec Plus 831 Combi Boiler which seems to be losing pressure each day. The pressure that is lost is able yet 0.2 bar each day and so I am having to refill it quite often. There are no visible leaks on the radiator valves and recently the expansion vessel, PRV valve, pressure sensor and connection tubes have been replaced. I have isolated the boiler by closing the return and flow valves to establish whether it is the boiler or the system and found that pressure is being lost whilst boiler is isolated. I have been informed that this may be due to the heat exchanger leaking? Would somebody be able to provide advice on how I could possibly be sure? There are also no visible leaks when I have taken the boiler cover off inside the boiler.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If your boiler is leaking through the heat exchanger it will be running through the condense pipework. The only way to be certain is the remove the main burner and visually check if the sump is full of water. This must be done by a gas safe engineer and a new burner gasket must be fitted after the inspection. If a new heat exchanger is required the burner gasket is normally included with it. Hope this helps
