Plastering & Rendering

Lot of cracks in the wall after a new plastering also

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.34 PM

I did rendering and plastering on the walls of the house 6 months back. But now i am seeing a lot of cracks in the walls, which are increasing day by day. Could someone let me know why these may be happening and what need to be done to stop these cracks from growing more and more.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, It could possibly be because of shrinkage or the wrong mix/sand was used. It may be where you have got your heating on and the plaster is drying out a lot also. If the wall was damaged before the plastering that may be why, or if there is movement in the structure. If the plaster sounds hollow when you knock on it there is a possibility that it is blown and will need replacing. You may be able to blue grit it and float it with a render mesh and re-plaster it to save taking all the old plaster off. I hope this is helpful.
