Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.14 PM

Hello, my central heating pump is making a rattling noise, there is a video of it here https://youtu.be/Wj-3VWXiBP4 , any idea what this noise is and what is cause/remedy? Cheers, Graham

Are all the radiators and hot water working? Maybe no water in the system, but more than likely faulty Pump. If you can eliminate that no water in the system is the cause, the pump will be faulty and in need of replacing. Looks an older pump, so not done too bad to last this long. Try removing the Centre screw to vent it out, see if Water drips out. That should show if there is water in the system. If Radiators are working, the pump is circulation. Just noisy due to wear & tare. The pump is not worth servicing as you can pick up a new Energy Rated replacement, at a less cost of repair. Another possibility is, if you have done some soldering work on the central heating pipework, maybe a bit of solder or debris is stuck in the pump. Spinning about in the impellers.
