washing machine is out and tap is closed,Does that make all water supply in the house stop??

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Hi can anyone advise me, Washing machine is out for replacement and I can see two pipes been turned off close to the washing machine attached to the wall. However all the water supply has stopped.I think that is because of the main water supply stopped somewhere inside the house?? I don't think if we stop the water supply for washing machine will stop all the main water for the house. Please some one tell me we still should have water supply to the rest of the house depite supply turned off to washing machine. Also some plumbers visiting for blocked sink and I dont know how to explain this or can he manage run the water supply and carry out his test??

Hi, you should definitely still have a water supply to the rest of the house. A washing machine will be connected to your mains water of your house but will branch off and have it’s own valve to be able to turn it off. Should be a small valve with a blue lever. Turning this off will not effect any other water supply. The main water supply must be turned off somewhere else. There will be a brass tap somewhere, normally under your main sink. If a plumber is coming he will quite quickly resolve this problem. James Wilson. High & Dry Plumbing and Heating.
