Water pressure goes down when neighbour flushes toilet

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.14 PM

Hi I live in a mid terrace house with a downstairs bathroom that is joined to my neighbours downstairs bathroom. I have noticed that whenever they flush their toilet, my water pressure in my taps, flushing the toilet, shower etc goes down and the water turns hot, just as it would if I were to use the water elsewhere in the house (only one bathroom). What could this be please? Has my neighbour interfered with my plumbing? Update: I’m not on a water meter, but perhaps my neighbour is? Thank you

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

it sounds like you are both on the same water supply but l would have a plumber come and look in to it

You must be on the same supply pipe it may be. A genuine mistake or something else ,you may be on a water meter I remember several years ago my neighbour was stealing my gas and electric for several years he used to own both houses and fiddled it before I bought the house it took ages to sort it out

i would definitely get your supply checked out, it sounds as if they are using yours. it might be a mistake but also might be saving themselves money. A plumber in your area will be able to isolate anything they find and disconnect joining pipework. also speak to your local water supplier and ask them to investigate as well
