Wet patches on bedroom wall

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Recently I have noticed my grey paint sometimes seems wet (darker grey) although when I touch it it's dry. It's on an external wall mainly at the top near the ceiling but sometimes shows as small circles all over the wall. We have a dehumidifier and that seems to solve the problem when its on. I'm thinking of painting my walls a different colour so it's not as noticeable, would you recommend using dulux trade fungle eggshell paint first or are there cheaper alternatives as this is £90+ which is a lot for a small space.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If its not a cracked roof tile it could well be a issue with your gutters or undercloak you should also check pointing on reverse of the wall and maybe think about some masonary seal on the brick work .if render look for cracks hope it helps thanks

I have been using for almost 15 years Dulux and Valspar are the best paints that are in the trade and you can also find for grease proof stain resistant washable without color fade kitchens but also for anti-condensation anti-mold baths I hope you have been useful

What ever paint you use is just going to cover the problem. Itll keep coming back until you address the cause (which sounds like damp/ventillation) Id make sure you have a window slightly open in the room. Try not to dry clothes indoors esp without windows open. Windows open whilst showering. Make sure extractors on if you have them and filtes clean. Make sure air brinks/vents not blocked... Generally, just try to increase airflow in/out of the house. Hope that helps :)
