How much time does tiling take

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.34 PM

Hi. Just wandering how long it would take to do an additional 1.5 square meters of tiling above a worktop? Just plain old 100x200 metro tiles on newly plastered walls and no funny contours or anything. I am already tiling around the sink and was going to use upstand for the rest for ease, but I think it might look inconsistent.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

People saying it takes an hour are talking utter rubbish . By time you have got your tile cutter out of the van measured up prepped and primed can be half hour then you have another half hour to chuck 75 tiles on the wall clean up grout up and cut trims . Talking in real terms is easily 3 hours work .

Hi, this should take no longer than 2 hours to tile, grout and fix in the trim if your having one. Make sure you use a compatible primer also if the wall has just been plastered.

You should allow half a day for this kind of job. Drying times and unloading tools, setting out. The actual job itself probably isn’t half a day but everything else that goes into physically doing the job makes it up to half a day.

Hi, just for the tiling I'd think an hour if that and then maybe 10 minutes of grouting once the adhesive is dry. Don't forget to use the appropriate primer when tiling on to plaster.

Many people would say that everything would be ready in an hour, but it is not as simple as it seems. Preparation. the setting. etc., with all these things it will take at least 2/3 hours. It is not as simple as it seems.

I’d say 2 hours with Prep, tiling, and finishing. Maybe longer if you’re doing it yourself and you’ve never done any tiling

Tiling that size should take no longer than 2 hours, that’s including cutting and fixing a trim (if required). The use of a rapid set adhesive means you will usually be able to grout after 2 hours. Grouting that size area should take no longer than 10/15 minutes, that’s including wiping down.

Hi, tiling should take between 1-2hours. Make sure you use the appropriate materials, if you use a slow set adhesive you won’t be able to put grout on the same day. Therefore, use a a rapid set. Thank you
