Tanking bathroom

Hi i recently had my bathroom plastererd because the walls were not straight the plasterer used normal plaster board in bathroom then skimmed.my question is can you use tanking kit over plastering so the water doesn't go through?big mistake should have asked him to use aqua panels but its done now. so is there anything i can try to sort this out

Yes you can .there are many tanking kits for this .mapei I prefer wps waterproofing and tape mapegum .just seal the walls with sbr solution well before
