Replacing ridge tiles - clay or concrete
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.55 PM
Hi, I'm looking for advice. My Edwardian semi has some missing ridge tiles and the remaining 4/5 may need rebidding / replacing . I assume they would have been clay but are now concrete. Thinking of having all replaced to save future problems and wanted advise whether they should be clay or concrete. I'm getting different views? What the advantages/ disadvantages of each? Many thanks for any help

It really depends on what tiles you have on your roof, clay, concrete, or slate either of them should out last you unless your only about ten. The main difference is the lenght concrete is generally 460mm clay is 305mm unless they are capped clay ridges then they are the same.
As above fitting wise a dry ridge system although more exensive than normal sand & cement is a better system if fitted corectlly.
Good luck Alex

Hi there is a new system out for ridges called dry systems. Council approval. Clay is a bit more expensive than concrete, but has a longer life.
