Pop up bath waste plug problem

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.14 PM

My bath is losing water through the plug hole. It has a pop up plug. And I have checked to see if the gasket is there and it is. It seems a bit high out of the plug hole but have twisted it both ways so many times and it doesnt lower... I am handy but no plumber so need advice from anyone that know what my best option should be to try and stop it leaking out all the bath water. As a test if speed. Once I have filled bath to say a 1/4 way up to bath my little one. By the time she has finished her bath (5-10 mins) it has gone down by around 75% of what I filled. I look forward to your suggestions. Many thanks Nick

There is a screw under the plug, lift the plug out, release the nut that locks it in place and then turn the screw to reduce it's length and then tighten the nut up to lock it again. Failing that, has the gasket perished or split at all? If it has you should be able to eBay a new one. Assuming that the plug is OK, no cracks/splits/etc... then you might be looking at a new plug. They are very easy to replace, plenty of how to do it videos on youtube...
