Alternative to scaffolding on one side of premises - no cranes allowed either

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.34 PM

We are removing and restructuring the roof of a single storey L gable building. The building is 1.3m from the railway boundary. We are therefore not allowed to have scaffolding along the wall adjoining the boundary nor are we allowed to crane in any steels. Does anyone know of any alternative equipment we could hire that would lift the steels up for us and anything with a platform that we could fit in 1.3m for the tiling at the back we were wondering whether a scissor lift might work but are struggling with a crane alternative. We are mentioning these restrictions to local builders and are concerned it's putting them off quoting. Many thanks

Hi there, You could hire a scissor lift that will fit in the 1.3m space but those are only working platforms. If i remember correctly, you need to be 9 feet away from the overhead lines on a railway, Scaffold can be errected with the right permits, as long as the scaffold or any persons are not within the 9 feet you will be fine, scaffold will have to be bonded ofcourse. Hope this helps Regards Gavin Oscell Limited

Hi. Yeah try using a scissor lift but you would probably need to be trained first
