Wall paper or gloss first?

hi, yes i would line then undercoat, using undercoat to fill gaps between lining paper and facing / skirting / dado, sand wall, snag fill then line, horizontally, rule of thumb is least amount of lengths to cover the area. lining paper should be butt jointed, dont leave the 2mm as if you were papering over it, if your painting it. 1st coat then fill or sand joints as needed. so if wallpapering finish wood ie gloss first then wallpaper. good luck.

Hi. It doesn't really matter what order you approach the job as you are using lining paper that will still have to be painted over anyway. Personally, i would first gloss the dado rail and then paper the walls because by the time you come to paint the lining paper the gloss would have dried anyway.

Best is to line the wall first and then paint. You give a better edge to the whole finish. And you don't have to wait for any paintwork to dry. As you would if you painted first.

It depends. If you are painting the lining paper to your desired colour.. I would, hang the lining paper first, then paint the ceiling but go slightly on the walls, cut in the walls going on the skirting slightly, then cut in a perfect straight line with undercoat on the woodwork then gloss. If you are hanging wallpaper over the lining paper.. Hang lining paper, Paint ceiling, undercoat, gloss, hang wallpaper (after gloss is completely dry) Following this order of work will get you the most professional finish possible. Wallpapering is generally done last after any chance of getting paint, dirt or dust on it, is eliminated.

I would line first then paint going a few inched unto the crossed lined paper. This make the finished papering a lot easier and more professional Remember never over lap the lining paper a little hair line gap between sheets.
