Improver bricklayer

Hi, not sure I should be asking this here so apologies. I been a labourer for my father and uncle who were bricklayers in waltham abbey, essex. I worked with them for over ten years. They recently retired and I attended a training centre to start learning bricklaying, though my father already taught me a fair bit over the years. I finished my course in september, got my cscs card I am and finding it hard to get a job. IAny advice is much appreciated

I would agree with Buildkings answer, try local sites and get some experience, you learn a lot being in a gang of bricklayers too. If your willing to travel get yourself on an agency. Don't forget you need a CSCS card and complete a citb health and safety test to get on most major sites. You might have access to the test through your local college if not search CSCS card test on Google. You could also try local building firms to see if they have any jobs going. Hope this helps Ash

Advertising is always good and maybe some business cards or leaflets that you can have distributed in your desired area hope this helps

Your best bet is to go on a local building site on Day rate where there is plenty of work and plenty of time to improve before you go out and do private work

Try going to your local site and seeing if anyone will take you on. Just start as a labour, show that your willing to work. Or maybe try facebook, there are alot of bricklaying groups thats jobs get posted on. Goodluck and im sure you’ll find something.

There’s number of pages on Facebook now with new jobs posted everyday, Sites local to you just walk on to the site and ask about, There’s all agenys all around too. Thanks Andrews Brickwork

Try going around You’re Local area asking on all building sites if they need an improver bricklayer, make it clear you are an improver so the Forman knows what he is dealing with and does not through you in at the deep end.
