Water supply to a combi boiler

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Can i supply a combi boiler from a cold storage tank for the hot water supply. Whilst the mains pressure is reasonable, having the shower on and someone else running a cold tap causes insufficient flow in both shower and the cold tap ??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Speak to a local plumber to get that tank removed and run everything of the mains. If the pressure is insufficient a pump (or a number of pumps depending on your setup) can be fitted but they would require regular maintenance.

actually its obvious from your description that your mains pressure and flow volume is not adequate, you could fit some sort of break tank and booster pump to supply shower and taps, unfortunately people fit combi boilers without checking mains pressure correctly, this should be checked at times of high usage 6am to 9am and 4pm to 8pm, you could run a combi off of a storage tank in your loft but you would probably have to pump supply to combi from it.
