Damp on corners of bay window sill
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.55 PM
Hi, hope someone can help. We've just brought a property and noticed there's a small patch of wetness in the corner of the upvc window sills. Can anyone tell me what's causing this & how to get it repaired.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Without seeing it hard to give an exact reason for the dampness all I would say is check all the seals around the window, make sure no water is settling on the cill, is there a small roof above the bay ? May sure nothing is running down from above, probably a case of trial and error.
There's ingress somewhere just detecting it water is a pain once it starts coming in .
Hope you get it sorted all the best

Hi
It's probably that when fitted the window wasn't sealed to the external window cill. Any water the sitting on the cill will run off the ends and start to make the corners damp.
Remedy is refit window correctly sealing to the cill.
Hope this helps
