Water damage caused by loose bathroom tiles, DIY or get an expert in?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.14 PM

We had an issue where the bathroom tiles where coming away from the wall in the bathroom and before we knew it we where too late and has caused a leak which affected the wall on the ground floor. It doesn't seem to have caused any major damage as such however the wall downstairs from the bathroom has shown mould and needs redecorating, although I do stress that now we have we grouted the tiles it has stopped and doesn't appear to be getting any worse. My question is that is this just a case of taking away the wallpaper, sanding down and redecorating after during mould suppressant/seal or would it be better to get an expert in to check that it has indeed stopped? I just would hate to redecorate to then fine 2 months later that its still not dry and have to start all over again? Any suggestions out there?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

As long as it is fully sealed/grouted and resiliconed that should of stopped any further damage. Try tapping on the tiles on the effected area if they sound hollow chances are they have came loose in which case they would need removed and re-tiled as the grout will work loose again in the future and you'll have the same problem again. Hope this helps Craig
