Fencing

Which type of garden fence is strong?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

Hi, My neighbour to the right of me has a very large dog which keeps jumping up against my fence, this has now caused several of my fences to break or fall as the concrete posts are also damaged. This means the dog can come into our garden when he likes and leave his mess in my garden. I have raised this with the council on a number of occasions and not much has been done about it. I have also brought this up with my neighbour whose response is that side of the fence is my fence so its my responsibility. I really want to get my fence and posts fixed so that i can actually use my garden, but i would like to put a strong and reliable fence up. What are my options bearing in mind budget. Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Personally I would removed the existing damaged fence and replace it with a wooden fence of a suitable height to stop the dog from coming in.

Your best option would be concrete post and concrete gravel boards with a feather edge panel as there much stronger than a shiplap panel What ever the overal height of the fence is buy post 2ft longer as it will need to be set in the ground 2ft Example 6ft fence you would need 8ft post 1ft gravel board and a 5ft fence panel

Post, rail and board fence to replace existing one. Posts would need to be 8ft x 4" x 4" for a 6ft fence, 3 and 1/2 inch x one and 1/2inch rails and 3/4 inch boards. If erected properly it will keep out a horse, never mind a dog

Just get concrete posts, concrete gravel boards and close board panels. This should solve the problem lol
