Lights on 1 circuit ring not working but fuse hasn’t tripped

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.34 PM

Noticed last night that all of the lights in 3 of the rooms in our flat weren’t working - everything else is fine. Checked the fuse box and nothing has tripped. Tried switching the RCD off and on again and still nothing happening. Any suggestions as to what this could be? Only affecting this 1 circuit. We did change a light switch a few days ago but wired it exactly the same as the old one with no issues - could this be the problem? Thanks UPDATE: Checked the new dimmer switch fitted, checked the wiring (all seemed fine but re-wired it all anyway) and this seems to have worked but why doesn’t the fuse trip in these circumstances?

Hi if the trip hasn't tripped then it could be either 2 issues. 1- it could be the earth not connected somewhere which means that if someone touches the electric it might not trip and someone could get hurt or could possible start a fire 2- could be a faulty trip and could want replacing if I was you I would called a electrician to take a look and do a earth test. Hope this helped

Very unlikely to be a faulty trip! The feed live or even the neutral might be detached somewhere. I would suggest calling in an electrician to fault find and rectify.
