Hive not turning on central heating

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

We have got a glow worm ultracom 30cxi combi boiler. We’ve had the Hive hub, thermostat and receiver fitted by a plumbing company to control our central heating. The hive worked for the first few days but stopped working shortly after. When we turn the thermostat up, the ‘central heating’ light on the hive receiver attached to the boiler turns green - but the boiler’s central heating does not come on. Even manually pressing silver button the the hive receiver does not turn the heating on despite the green light on the receiver turning green. We have had an electrician and plumber from the same company that installed the hive look at this but the plumber says the hive is not working and the electrician says the boiler is not working. They are blaming each other. We have resorted to turning the boiler on manually by using the controls on the actual boiler. Has anyone come across this issue before?

You only need a GOOD heating engineer, not both to determine the cause of the fault. Process of elimination is the key hear. The so called plumber seems to be lacking in fault diagnostic skills, as for the sparky, they do not all have the required fault finding skills to over come the problem, as this is not there line of work in general. I have fitted many smart heating controls to date including 'Hive' and the installation is very easy, so you need to eliminate Hive as the cause or perhaps it may be an installation or even a software error! Persist with the installer until you get a satisfactory result!
