New boiler in loft noise issue

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.54 PM

We have just a new boiler installed Worcester 38CDI classic in the loft on a newly support frame formed by the plumber two days ago ( the old one was in the bathroom). We discussed our concerns about noise with the installer but he assured us that 8 of 10 of his last installation were in the loft and there would be no issue with vibrating noise. But this is not the case, we have a continuous humming noise from the loft not only the bedroom below but also the kitchen and living rooms anytime the boiler is on. The installer came back to place some lagging on the pipes works but its makes no difference to the noise level. It appears there is a vibrating noise transfer through the roof floor joist because you can't hear the noise in the loft. I have place some rockwool sound insulation slabs under the joists but this is not working either. Is there anyway to eliminate the noise transfer? I was thinking about anti vibrating mounts but this will require removing of the boiler frame to install the anti vibrating mounts and am not sure if this will work. I will be very grateful for any advise to resolve this issue Many Thanks

Factoring in vibration resonating through structural timber this still would not account for the obvious noise levels you are experiencing. The only two components within the boiler that cause vibration are the fan and pump, pumps are normally very quiet if working correctly. Has the boiler been fixed directly and hung from the roof timber or has the installer fixed a wooden sheet/board (such as plywood) to the roof timber first before hanging the boiler? NB: The above sheet/board should be of the same foot print as the boiler case and the thickness should be 18mm! Can you take some pictures and upload them to a free photo hosting web site this may help us identify the cause?
