Gas smell and itchy eyes

I had a new gas fire fitted last year by a corgi reg. gas fitter,the fire is on a party wall,my neighbour says he is worried that the wall gets warm and he gets a sore throat and heavy eyes,I have stopped using the gas fire and the neighbour feels better,the gas for was bought from B&Q it was a cheap one,any thoughts Andrew

You could get the chimney smoke tested and see if it goes into next door

defo not good need a gas engineer to test the fire ASAP!
don't use until then!!
