Water seeping through screws on sockets

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.16 PM

Hi, we've recently had some building work done. We've had a brick garden room insulated and plastered and some sockets put in. The plaster is almost dry, but we've noticed water is seeping through where the screws are on the sockets and the sockets are a bit wet. Is this to be expected?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello Water and electrics really don't mix. I suspect this could be condensation but It really depends how recent the plaster work is and what the ventilation it's like in the room. As plaster drys you may notice condensation on windows and maybe in your case around metal sockets. If your plaster has dried and you have water around sockets then I would strongly advise investigating why and where this water is coming from. Hope this helps a little. Matt

Hi, I believe this could be condensation due to the lack of ventilation within the room, if you find condensation on your windows this is good indication that this is the probelm.
