Steel 'A' frame in new build construction

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hi My original plans include a steel 'A' frame intended to support large windows to each gable end of the bungalow. Due to the cost, I now have to dispense with this and have standard brickwork gables with a smaller window to each end. Is this likely to be a problem with Building Regs and will I have to get my working drawings/plans re-drawn by the Architect and pay him again? Also, will I have to put in a mini-application to the council due to a change in size of the windows? The builder hasn't mentioned any potential problems yet....! Many thanks for any help and advice. Gina

Hi Gina Any deviations off the original passed plans WILL need to be amended and yes there will be a cost involved. Sounds like your having a smaller window which will need a lintel over and its a change from the plan. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Good luck all the same. Andy Herbert
