Plumbing

Diameter of Pipes to Combi Boiler

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.16 PM

I have recently had a new Worchester Greenstar i ExP installed, it says MT 10 on the casing. I originally had a conventional boiler with a cylinder and a big water tank in the loft. I was told that the Gas Supply to the boiler needed a bigger diameter pipe from the Gas Meter to the boiler and also that the old lead piping needed to be replaced and doing all that would cost a lot more. I went away for 3 weeks on holiday and got a garbled message that a certificate could not be given because the gas hob needed to be replaced. I was quoted £4000.00 + Vat for the above work as well as the following work in the bathroom: New Taps/Mixer on Bath and Basin. New (smaller than I asked for) Towel Rack. New Bath Panel. And 2 x 2 meters of new Flooring (laminate marble effect). Upon my return, I have found the following: 1. Rubbish left outside of flat. 2. No bath panel. 3. The shower head is incompatible with the wall fixing. I hadn’t expected the shower head to be replaced as the one there already was new and had an extra long flex which reached the existing fixing. 4. The upstairs landing thermostat doesn’t seem to have any effect on the heating? 5. The gas pipe from the gas meter has not been replaced with a bigger diameter pipe right from the meter. It is obviously converted to the bigger diameter pipe at some point in the long journey to the boiler. 6. The lead mains supply under the stairs has not been changed for bigger diameter pipe. It is obviously converted to the bigger diameter pipe at some point in the Long journey. At the moment it runs in lead to the loft and then back down floors to the kitchen boiler. 7. The cap on the Towel Rack Valve is not fitted/missing. 8. When running the hot water, the radiators go off. 9. When the bath hot tap is running, if you turn on/off the cold tap, the hot water stops or slows down to next to nothing. 10. There is no vertical flue on the outside of the property. 11. I was told there was a problem with the Hob and I need to replace it, but not sure of the what is wrong with it? I have not paid for the work yet, and I’m wondering what the best course of action is? Should I get an independent plumber to take a look at it? Thanks for any advice or suggestions…… 12. I was since found out that the boiler instated is the Worchester Greenstar i ErP 25 MT10. I was told it should be the 30 version for my Maisonette. Which has the following Radiators. Main Bedroom 1 x double, middle bedroom 1 x double, box room 1 x since. Hall 1 x double, Bathroom 1 x small towel, lounge 2 x double.

gas safe yes but they can only comment and take action on the gas side of the installation, ciphe can recomend a qualified plumber to inspect the plumbing side,if he is also gas safe registered he can also give you a report on the gas ,dont pay untill you are satisfied that it is all done correctly.
