House takes over 2 hours to heat up

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hello there, I moved into a property some months ago and the flat takes around over 2 hours to heat up. I definitely have insulation in my loft but somehow the heat escapes, I have a fire place that I have not used yet and behind my kitchen units, the walls and floors are quite exposed behind there so wondering if that's a cause or would it be the window gasket seals from inside and out have been worn out. Just require some advice as to how much will it cost for 1 Bay window, 6 big windows and 1 door glass to be replaced please, or could it be something else that is causing the loss of heat. Additional information - I live in a Victorian house converted flat. Found that there is cold draught coming in from behind the kitchen units and the fireplace in the living room. Unfortunately, I am looking for a cheaper solution to seal these two places. All radiators are burning hot when boiler is turned on and my windows are all double glazed.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Is it a flat or a house you live in Check where the draft is coming from and that would mainly be windows and floors Do you have central heating and are your radiators new? Also check if they do need bleeding, they should be boiling hot when on If you are changing the windows you might as well get them double glazed
