What gap required for one storey downstairs extension close to neighbour's wall?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.13 PM

We are hoping to have an extension built at the back of our garage which will be a one storey room with downstairs toilet and shower plus washing machine and tumble dryer. Our neighbour's wall is adjacent to where this proposed extension will be. Can anyone advise what the minimum distance between the neighbour's wall and our new wall needs to be? We thought it would be preferable that there is a gap of some sort rather than no gap as we are concerned that noise from our washing machine etc. will travel through to their house. Still trying to get this information confirmed by the local planning department but their reply states that we could be waiting up to 2 months for an answer.
