Loud clunking/drilling noises from system

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.33 PM

I have a standard boiler with tank. It comes on twice a day. Twice a day it makes a loud clunking noise followed by about 3-4 seconds of a drilling sound. This happens usually a couple of hours after the system has started up and 1/2 to 1 hour before it shuts down. Any advice on what it might be. noise does not appear to come directly from boiler.

Possible causes: 1. Boiler 'kettleing' Cause sludge/debris in boiler and/or heating system including radaitors resulting in the noise you are expericacing. 2. Poor circulation. Cause possible faulty heating pump 3. Air ingress. Cause air is being sucked in to your heating system, not uncommon with your type of system. NB: Recommend you invite a heating engineer who SPECILAISES in breakdowns/trouble shooting
