Crack in supporting wall after door-frame change and gap above frame
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.13 PM
We had a doorframe removed, re-fitted and lowered following removal of a doorstep between a previous exterior wall from the kitchen to a utility room extension. The house was built in 1909 and the extension was built in the 1990s. Lowering the door-frame has left a 3cm gap above the doorframe and resulted in a crack appearing in the wall above the door. The carpenter didn't flag this with us so we were surprised when we saw the resulting gap. We need advice on what to do with the gap and what we should fill the gap with. The crack hasn't got worse in the last couple of days but we're keen to get this sorted asap. It would be easier to explain with a photo but there's no way of uploading a photo on here unfortunately! I've posted this as a separate job as well which shows photos. Thanks very much for your advice
