Raised patio to replace decking?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.54 PM
I live in a Victorian house with a garden that slopes down away from the house. At the rear I have steps leading down from the kitchen onto concrete at various levels which then leads down to decking which is rotting. The decking is the full width of the house. I would like to create a raised patio area to replace the decking. Is this a job for a landscape gardener or a builder?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Both landscaper and builder could do the work. It’s more down to personal preferences who likes to do what... Definietly not all builders would do gardening job.

Hi Carrie,
Definitely a job for a hard landscaper. Obviously there is some crossover with the building trade, but outdoors is our domain. Hope this helps.

Hi, this is a job for either a hard landscaper or a builder. I would however, recommend using a hard landscaper because they (we) have loads experience in building retaining walls (which it sounds like you may need), and offering right advice for drainage behind retaining walls. Also hard landscapers are or (should be) trained in laying patios to industry standards. From personal experience, a builder would probably sub contract these tasks out to a hard landscaper, so why use a middleman, in this case a builder. Hope this helps,
Thanks
Pat
