Has my gas been capped?
Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.13 PM
Hi, I’ve recently bought a house which has been disconnected from gas in 2014. I’ve been asked by Cadent if the pipes have been capped. I’ve had a look and I can see what I think is a gas pipe sticking out from the floor by the electricity meter and fuse box and is about 15 inches tall (looks like a little handle thing sticking out the side). Does that sound like it’s capped? Can I get it uncapped? Thanks
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
Yes you can get it uncapped but will have to be by a GAS SAFE registered heating engineer if the handle is sticking out to the side it means it’s switched off some times it tells you on the handle hope this is useful

My Word ????
Surely common sense tells you that it might be in your best interest to employ a Gas Safe registered expert to advise you on what the best way forward is ????? Not just advice from Cal's painting and decorating ???
I'm missing something here???
