Gas Meter near to cooker (and hobs)
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.33 PM
Good afternoon, hoping someone can give me some advice. I'm looking at buying a flat and the gas meter is behind a cupboard in the kitchen on an interior wall, approximately the same height as the cooker hood, but about 50cm to the left of the hob (essentially right next to the cooker hood). Is that allowed under current regulations?

For clarification I would strongly recommend that you contact Gas Safe for advise on the number below:
Tel: 0800 408 5500
or email
enquiries@gassaferegister.co.uk
If you decide to email them then send pictures of the proposed location of cooker hood also giving clearance dimension's too in relation to hood and existing gas meter, this will then help them make a decision!

Meter clearance should be 3" way from any flame and also you can change your meter position somewhere else but your supplier will charge you around £800 https://pse.com/accountsandservices/Construction/Documents/3885.pdf
