can you stick plaster board directly to painted walls ?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.53 PM

Hi I was told yes you can can you stick plaster board directly to painted walls using plaster board adhesive( rather than use dot and dab) as long as there's no wall paper on the walls is this correct? And if it can be done, is there a good odour free plasterboard adhesive? Or is there something else that can be used ? I've used 'no nail's'' for multiple jobs as there's no smell problem ( another suggestion was to use that on the boards) but I don't know if you can hang plaster broad directly to walls with it. And I don't want to make a costly mistake even trying in-case it won't I really want something that's easy to use and no odour or very low odour that will dissipate quickly. Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, yes you can stick plaster boards directly onto painted walls. I’d advise using thistle drywall adhesive tho or wickes own drywall adhesive. As for it being odour free, I can’t say ive really used one before that has no smell to it tho.
