Damp walls after bathroom refit

Anonymous user 3 November 2017 - 4.22 PM

After a bathroom refit in July, a leak occurred. It's now November and it is still damp. How long do we have to wait until its dry? and is it ok when it is damp to apply the sealant?

do not apply sealants to a damp surface this will just trap it, if it is still damp the likely hood is that it is still leaking it will be worth checking for this try putting a dehumidifier near to the damp.

To me it sounds like something is still dripping with some kind of leak. Because by now it should be more than dry. Never add sealants as it will only trap water and won’t properly stick

My advice would be to.buy or hire a dehumidifier. A good quality one. These are good because they can be set to a chosen level of relative humidity and will kick in to reduce the level to the set level. Not only will they assist in drying out they will also indicate a problem. ( over 70% humidity indicates a prob)
