Rising damp returned after DPC and re-plaster

Anonymous user 2 November 2017 - 11.13 AM

Hi, I’d like some advice please. The whole of my downstairs had a damp course treatment and all walls re-plastered with sand and cement. Since having this done earlier in the year we have had numerous large wet patches appear on the re-plaster or just over the new plaster. I was told nothing could penetrate the new plaster however this is not the case. Does anyone know what this means? Many thanks

It means who ever diagnosed your rising damp misdiagnosed it and it will be comming from else where, without looking it is impossible to say what is actually causing your issue, try reading the rising damp myth, rising damp is misdiagnosed in over 75% of cases rising to 95% in older property's,

Hi. Can you call back the company that did the work? A very long time ago now but i purchased a property that had rising damp, had a dpc injected and plaster/render replaced throught ground floor. The work was guaranteed. After some time i noticed some damp re-appear in one corner. The company returned, rectified the prob, no quibble

Hi As stated by ADR you are another victim of (mr moisture meter man). These meters have there limitations they will only tell you if its wet or dry they do not tell you what kind of moisture it is. I would recommend you get a Hygroscopic Salt Test by a a credited surveyor before you do anything else, this will give you an idea where the moisture started its journey. Hope this helps Mike
