Gas Works

Gas has been capped by previous owner - need to reinstate

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

We bought our house last year and there is a part of a gas pipe coming through the floorboards under the stairs and it has a tag on stating the supply is capped. Therefore there is only electricity in the house. We want to get the gas connection back so we can have central heating installed and get rid of the big immersion heater. We currently have no proper heating as the unsafe electric storage heaters have been removed. I am struggling to find out who does this! There is already a pipe to the property so can any gas safe engineer do this? Any help/advice would be great! Thanks :)

Hi, If you have gas to a meter then this is not a issue to reinstate, Cadent Gas will send a engineer to do a test on the service supplying your property to check if it is live,

National Gas Transporter will advise and quote to install a billing meter. Anything after the meter is a Gas Safe Engineers reasonability.
