Windows insets for sound proofing windows

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

Would acrylic window inserts help sound proof my windows as well as laminated glass secondary glazing ( which I seriously need to get installed as soon as possible due to a severe sound hyper sensitivity problem) would? If so where can I get them , I've looked on the web but its all USA sites coming up and I live in Cardiff in Wales. Also is it best to get a window fitter/ Glazier to do it or is it something you can easily do yourself? Do they come as ready made kits or do you have to have them made to measure to fit your windows? Or is the laminated secondary glazing the best option for my needs? I really need to know as I need them done due to the severe impact noise has on my overall health due to a brain injury. Thanks for any help as I'm desperate to get them sorted as soon as I can

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, We're qualified in sound engineering. We need to understand what sort of frequencies you need to reduce? Higher frequencies are easier to trap and deflect? however secondary glazing will help as a rule. An in-depth scope of works with frequency tests and calculations of co-efficiency values (materials) will give us the best plan.
