Sinks without U bend making noise when toilet flushes

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.13 PM

There is a valve/flap (presumably performing the job of a U bend) just below the sink bowl that vibrates when the either the main toilet or the ensuite toilet is flushed (seemingly due to air being forced through it). The vibration causes a loud noise like a fog horn. The flat is circa 10 years old and I think the valves where installed because there isn't too much space behind the pedestal of the sink. I'm not sure there is enough room to fit a U bend instead. Is there a way to stop the noise?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

HI Is this siphon is adjustable? As such, the regulator tube is too short and is not deep enough below the water level I recommend replacing. Experience plumber will know how to replace the trap to remove the fault.

Hello JJK_89 Sounds as if there is no where for the air to enter the soil system. Most likely due to a faulty Air Admittance Valve or even a blockage.
