Remedial plastering
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.32 PM
I've just had my home plastered. The walls are bumpy, uneven, have trowel marks and basically aren't very smooth. I've used a pole sander and hand sander with 60 grit paper and filled areas with easifill 45minute set filler to try and even the walls out. Is there anything else I could be doing or product I could be using to try to obtain a decent finish without re-plastering.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there the walls should not be bumpy with trowel marks I would call the trademan back and explain the situation, they should make good where needed, also I would use 120 paper as 60 grit paper will score the walls.

Hi
Unfortunately uneven walls will always be uneven to a certain degree when re-skimmed.
If you want perfectly flat and straight walls, the easiest and quickest option would be to dot and dab over the existing plaster; this will ensure a flat and level surface.
No sandpaper or product will remove bumps. If you are not happy it is always best practice to contact your plasterer and hopefully they can sort the issues out.
