Emulsion on oil based aluminum primer

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

My local paint specialist gave us the wrong tin of johnstones paint which has now been applied by my painter over an oil based aluminum primer. The vinyl soft sheen emulsion was applied in 2 coats before the shop called to let me know. This was all on the wooden ceiling of a garden room i built so it's going to be prone to moisture and larger temperature changes than a house, will this affect it badly? After all the effort i put into preparing the wood I'm concerned that it will flake off in 6 months time. Any advice please? Should i sand back to wood and start again or will it just look terrible in next to no time?. Thanks

Very unfortunate mistake and difficult to advise on. I think your 'paint specialist' should advise on the best recourse

I wouldn't worry too much .The Primer is great for temperature changes so should not peel. The Vinyl in the top coats can handle quite a bit of moisture in the air .... Think Vinyl silk in bathrooms years ago .if your worried get some exterior masonry paint and apply a coat .But I think you will be fine .
