Windows & Door fitting

New wooden window wood

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.12 PM

Hello. I have had a new window fittted into my utility room, it replaced a rotten one and now has a double glazed window pane. It doesn’t open. My question is, the joiner has used different woods for the frame and inside around the glass. Is this usual? The surrounding wood is quite obviously pine, but the inner wood and sill looks to be rosewood or something, it’s light pink in colour. The exterior frame (outside) at the moment is surrounded by expanding foam. The house is being rendered. Is it the renderers job to complete the window or the joiner or a decorator? I would need to replaster inside too as the walls have been damaged around the new frame. Also the metal insert that runs inside around the double glazed window is not fitted back into the frame, it sits out and is quite noticeable. Thanks so much In advance for any help, I realize this is tricky without a photo, not sure how to post one here. I just want to be sure before I pay up etc.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would suggest getting it check over by someone who no what is right. but without pic's is quite hard to understand. the joiner should of cut the foam back trimmed and sealed it before it gets rendered. also when i instal anything and if i damage reveals etc i fix it. Sorry i could not help with the rest of the questions as photo's would of given a better insight. but hopefully this is enough info for you to decide.

Without pics it is quite difficult to give a proper answer but any foam should be cut back by the installer and sealed/pointed by the installer. Sometimes there is disturbance when ripping out an old window and installing a new one but it should be minimal and any major damage should be fixed , again, by the installer. As the other tradesperson said pics would be better for a full report. Hope this helps. Grant
