Sound proofing against neighbour noise in lounge/hall
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.12 PM
Following a failed attempt some years ago, I need my lounge and hall walls sound proofed to cut out constant and over the top noise from my neighbours. What is the best way to achieve this - I can hear them talking, laughing, children screaming/shouting, constant clicking/knocking/thudding of kitchen cupboard doors and even knives/forks scrapping on plates! I am getting so frustrated as I am struggling to find anyone to sort this out and I just want to be able to relax in my home without this constant noise from next door.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You have a number of options
However can be a costly exercise.
Firstly remove plaster board and fully insulate then reboard.
Or install a layer of insulated plasterboard
Over the existing.
The down side to this is you lose approx
75mm room space
