What's best for preventing movement of door frame?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

I'm a decorator & client has large cracks by front door as constantly moving, at first it seems sound, but you can see it move when shutting door hence cracking. Looks like someone has added a few extra screws but clearly not doing enough. Any suggestions or just fit new frame? Thanks Paul, MyDecorator, Leamington Spa

Hello , expanding foam assuming there is a void will help as will a perimeter seal . Finally check that the door is square in the frame and not running concentrically on the hinges . good luck Rob

Its sound as though it hasn't been packed off when it was fitted. when fitting doors especially upvc they need to be packed off then fixed. screws should be 150-250mm from the welds or joints on timber and 600 centres. hope this helps
