Bathroom Fitting

Refitting a whole en-suite - how can I make sure that the floor is waterproofed?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.12 PM

Hi, we are in the process of rethinking our en-suite, and the shower is currently an elevated box in the corner. I would, however, prefer to remove that and move the whole shower down to the level of the rest of the en-suite and make the room effectively a wet-room. What kind of professional would I have to look for the first steps in that process, to get the shower removed and the floor waterproofed?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes you could get a wet room tray which you'd sink into the floor boards and support underneath using 2x2 wood and 18mm ply between the joists. Then you'd tank it using the kit provided. Very simple really.

how you water proof floor would depend on weather the floor is concrete or wood? if it was RSM services fitting to a concrete floor we would use the a special rubber paint that also goes up the wall 300mm. If we was fitting to a wood floor we would use the impey membrane system. If you require any more information or advise do not hesitate to email us @ info@rsmgas.co.uk
