Laying a concrete base for a 3 x 2.8 metre insulated cabin

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.12 PM

I would like to build a base for a small insulated log cabin in my garden. It's less than 2.50 high. I'm wondering what's the best thing to do? I have quite a lot of paving slabs but they are of varying size, so I imagine it would be better simply to start from scratch and lay a concrete base. I am probably just doing the base at present and hopefully the log cabin next year. Can I just clear the earth and put the concrete base or must I put hardcore as well? Thank you so much.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You should put hardcore and whack it, also you should build a couple of course of brickwork then lay some dpc on top to stop rising damp. You can then use the brickwork as a shutter for your concrete ideally backing the brickwork up with blocks

Hi I would dig out 200m of soil, then lay some weed suppressant in the bottom, use your old slabs to smash up in to bits no bigger than 50x 50mm and 100mm deep. Then lay a 100mm of concrete over the top and also you've got rid of your old slabs for free.
