Do I bleed radiator before I top up boiler pressure?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

Removed rad and reattached for paintwork. Now ready to top up pressure. Do I first open the bleed valve (anti-clockwise) to let air out, close it AND THEN TOP UP PRESSURE using filling key to reach 1.5? OR do I top up pressure first on boiler then bleed rad?

Top up pressure to around 2 bar once you have bleed 2 radiators go back and top pressure back up and keep going till all are full. Providing pressure is is set between 1 and 2.5 bar when finished your be fine

Always best to do in small increments , top up the pressure with the blead closed to roughly 1.0-1.5 , then blead the radiator till either air stops coming out or water comes out . Repeat this closing the valve each time until water comes out then set pressure according to MIs usually 1.0-1.5
