Trickle vents deteriation

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.12 PM

I have noticed over time that the external vents on the trickle vents have fallen out due to deterioration, not only that internally the vent gliders are not really stopping the cold air getting in. House overall feels cold so I’m looking for a solution to seal these off properly, any suggestions are most welcome. Thanks in advance

My advice is - don't bodge it with silicone. Get new tickle vents external and internal , and if the vents have deteriorated the sealant has probably gone as well so would recommend sealing around the window frame as well. Trickle vents are cheap as chips and can be unscrewed easily for replacement. Unscrew it to reveal the vent in the frame and tape over it temporarily until you can replace it.
