Bathroom Fitting

Replace a bathtub, toilet, and sink only

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.31 PM

Hi all I am looking to replace my bathroom suite consisting of bath, sink and toilet. They are going in the same locations as the existing suite. Its a small bathroom, 2m X 1.7m. So far I have removed the wall tiles and floor tiles ready for plastering this weekend, Saturday (by a plasterer, not me). What is the likelihood of getting the new suite in on the Sunday? Or should I be getting the new floor down first (I did hear that the new suite must go on top of the floor). We are putting down click type laminate tile effect floor. Reason for trying to get it down in a short amount of time is that we don'y have another bathroom/cloakroom and this is the only bathroom. There is myself, wife and 3 sons. We can live without the bath and sink for a short while sure you can understand the toilet needs to go back in pretty soon after the plastering. Just looking for advice as really need to understand if I should be getting someone in to fit the suite for me as I've not done it before (except changing taps and removing waste pipes to retrieve lost jewelry)? Many thanks

Hi You will get a better finish around your new toilet if you fit it on top of your new flooring. You can easily fit your toilet in temporarily until you're ready to lay the flooring. Fit an isolation valve near the cold inlet for the cistern and just secure the toilet to the floor with the screws provided. When you're ready to do the flooring, disconnect the toilet, lift it out the way, lay your floor then refit the toilet. Hope this helps Kind regards Costelloes

Hi, I would certainly recommend installing the flooring before putting the new bathroom in, makes for a much better job. As for putting in the bathroom suite, if your pushed to get it done in that time frame and your not that experienced, I may recommend getting someone in, as if you come across a problem and you have started it, you may pay over the odds to someone to come in and fix that problem, especially if you need them asap because its your only bathroom. Just a recommendation.
