Damp Proofing

Damp proof course not sure if the job was carried out properly

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

Hi, I would really appreciate some advice. I got a professional in to carry out dpc in my living room due to raising damp highlights by the surveyor when we got the house. I've paid for it and signed it off as a job well done but a plasterer who has seen photos of the work carried out has advised they have not finished the job. The damp treatment had been injected into the walls but the company has not removed plaster up to 1m throughout. They have removed 1m strip up the wall only in the sections they have injected the rest of the wall they have only removed around 10-20cm including the skirting board all the way across. Is this correct or should they have removed all the plaster on the wall up to 1m ??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The general rule is where ever the wall has been injected that all the plaster would be removed up to 1.2 mtr and a water resistant render is applied and then a plaster skim. I suggest that you look out for any bubbling/blisters on areas that wasn't re-plastered. Do NOT apply any wallcoverings. Good luck. Mike Hi. if you need more info please respond to this. If you found this helpful please give a thumbs up. Many thanks

Hi there just looked over your problem I have been treating DAMP walls for over 18 years nd it all depends o how far the DAMP has travelled up ya wall be for they do e there work if the DAMP has travelled more than 500m high it's recommended that you take it to 1.2m night.
